Buongiorno! We are a local family with a heart for hospitality. From your very first email inquiry to our warm welcome when you arrive here, we hope you will sense our sincere care and enthusiasm for you and your experience in Tuscany. Helping adventurous travelers just like you discover the pleasures of Italy is our greatest joy and satisfaction. Since Luciano and Liliana first opened up rooms in their farmhouse Cretaiole 30 years ago, our family and hospitality team has grown. We look forward to hearing from you and helping make your Tuscany dreams come true in the near future!
Isabella was a big-city girl from Milan when she came as a guest to Agriturismo Cretaiole many years ago and fell in love with Carlo. She traded her high heels and business suits for what she says is the “real” dolce vita. Isa has traveled the world, speaks four languages and thoroughly loves to be with people from different cultures. Her main priority is to meet the many needs of her guests, making certain they have an experience they will never forget. She is funny, flexible, and enchanting. She and Carlo have two sons, Niccolò and Filippo.
Carlo is a man of the earth with a personality as warm as the sun. He works hard to make the very best Orcia DOC wine and olive oil possible. Carlo is an official olive oil tester in Siena, serving on a panel that evaluates and certifies the quality of the region’s olive oil. He studied agriculture in Siena and continually studies methods to improve his wine, prune his olive trees, and grow organically. He and Isabella have practiced yoga for many years and he particularly loves to go on long daily walks in the countryside. Perhaps you will join him on a walk one morning during your stay!
Luciano and his wife Liliana come from farming backgrounds near Pienza. Their connection to the land seems almost instinctual. Tending the garden, raising farm animals and showing the farm to our guests gives them great pleasure. Liliana is our loving, behind-the-scenes matriarch whose ragu recipe is a family secret we love to share with our guests. Luciano is one-of-a-kind, he’s passionate, sweet and charming and always tries to make everyone happy. He loves to dance and to share his homemade grappa and vin santo with guests.
With the care you receive from the Moricciani family and our entire team, you have nothing to be concerned about regarding your stay. Without even needing to plan much in advance, you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself, choosing how to spend your time in ways that give you great pleasure and satisfaction.
Marta and Carlotta will make any reservations you need, make certain you have good directions, and will be on the other end of the phone, text, or WhatsApp anytime you need help or advice. Our housekeepers and staff keep all of our properties impeccably clean and comfortable.
Carlotta is a Tuscan “DOC”—born, raised, and educated in Tuscany—which means that she either knows or can find out anything you need about anything at all. Her English is perfect, her sense of humor is delightful, and her personality is warm sunshine, consistently steady and happy. Carlotta has been assisting and delighting guests since 2013.
Marta was born in Sardinia, grew up near Milan, and moved to our area as a university student in Siena, where she earned a degree in the arts. She is passionate about art and she loves to help people of all ages to fall in love with art, too. Marta loves to cook and to offer her guests typical Tuscan dishes.
Our fairies. Sometimes guests ask who was the “magical fairy” who tidied their room so beautifully and tied a satin ribbon around their freshly pressed laundry? This would be our wonderful cleaning staff, the ladies who add to the experience, with their gentle presence, their attention to detail, and their ever-loving care.
“What we loved most about the stay was the hospitality of Isa and team. They strive to make sure you have the best week of your lives, and we simply did. We loved getting to know them and joining the family of Moricciani guests. I actually became teary when it was time to leave — I didn’t want the magic to end.”
